i just want to spend the nights with you

i just want to spend the nights with you. 2016. Harvard Carpenter Center for Visual Arts. Materials: paper, acrylic ink, gold leaf, gym towel, nail

A snapchat image taken (with text) of the artist's younger body is shown surrounded by a frame of towels. Each towel was collected from gyms in the Cambridge, MA area, many of them bleached and reused continually for years. In this way, sweat, and the attempt to clean it, is present from many generations. Scratches on the skin underscore the terror and that comes with the exhibition of growing bodies in the oddly sterile gym environment.
